This site is a resource, but...

I never intended for my product title or pictures to be copied and used by other sellers!  Years ago, when I was still selling on Ebay, I started adding a business card to my pictures in order to "trademark" them, as I started seeing other sellers using my images.  That pretty much put an end to image thieving, but I found that my auction titles were being copied, word for word in many cases and it irritated me enough to report the listings under Ebay's seller intellectual property violation policy.  They usually did nothing about it, but I'd take the time to do it anyway.

I've been off Ebay for over 6 months and guess what: it's still happening!  This seller has copied a number of my product titles, word for word!  What amuses me is that this seller has included my internal used part inventory number (circled in red), as if it is part of the Homelite numbering system!  The seller would probably remove the inventory number if I contacted them about it, but now I find it very amusing and I know who's been visiting my site from Ebay.  I knew that putting the IPL's and service memo's out there would bring Ebay sellers here that were looking for information about their parts.

One instance that I did contact a seller though was over an XL-12 handle bracket.  The image was "found" on a Google search, but it has my business card clearly visible in the photo!

Would you advertise your item with another business's information clearly visible???  I know I wouldn't!  When I contacted the seller, here's the response I received: Actually im not breaking any laws. The picture was on goggle with means free to the public. You dont have any copy right. Out of respect i am changing it.  The image was removed and I researched the subject a bit and discovered that he was not correct.  Just because it's on Google, doesn't make it part of the public domain.

I guess when it comes to copying information from this site, I'll take it as a compliment to the information that has been compiled here, as long as it isn't too blatant or for profit.!

Homelite Wico/Prestolite Blue Ignition Coil

2/12/2016

Who knows how many of these infamous "blue" coils have been thrown away over the years.  The Wico/Prestolite electronic ignition coil was famous for having spark one day and none the next.  In many cases, these coils can be returned to operating condition by baking at a moderate temperature.  I know it sounds weird, but 12-16 hours in a toaster oven at 200' can bring these coils back to life.  My personal theory is that moisture can work it's way into the coil around the lamination legs and eventually condensate and short out the coil.  Baking the coil will remove this moisture and usually return it to operational condition.  The few sellers on Ebay that have a Super EZ/XL-1 coil for sale are asking in excess of $200, so it's worth trying to fix your old one!  The same is true of the Super XL & XL-12; while those coils aren't priced quite as high, the aftermarket coil from Stens has been discontinued, so what's out there is what we all have to work with.
If you have any of these coils laying around, please contact me as I will buy them and attempt to restore them.  I'd like to make my store source for these coils at a REASONABLE price!

Cost of Shipping Has Gone Up!

1/21/2016

Well it hasn't happened for a while, but the United States Postal Service has increased the cost of shipping, in some cases by significant amounts!  As I've uploaded the new prices to the website, I've used the price for east coast shipments, as the majority of my orders come from the mid-west or further away.  The same is true of international shipments; a majority of my orders are from zone 6-8 countries, so I've priced accordingly.

In addition, my website is programmed to assume that each item is it's own shipment; a single gasket is programmed to be 1-2 ounces (depending on size), which takes into account any cardboard protection and the weight of the envelope.  The site does not have any way of calculating the true weight when you you order multiple light items that may only be 1-2 ounces.

But don't despair, my company policy is to refund any shipping over-payment great than $1 and I hold true to that!

I won't cover every price here, but I'll hit the highlights.

Domestic First Class Parcel (A huge majority of packages ship this way):
  • 1 to 8 ounces: $2.60
  • 9 ounces: $3.30
  • 10 ounces: $3.35
  • 11 ounces: $3.40
  • 12 ounces: $3.45
  • 13 ounces: $3.50
  • *14 ounces: $3.55
  • *15 ounces: $3.60
  • *16 ounces: $3.65
* New weight option for this class

Domestic Priority Mail now starts @ $7.16 for all but very local zones.  Flat rate envelopes will be used where possible to reduce the cost slighltly

International First Class Parcel:

1-8 ounces: $13.75
9 ounces - 2 pounds: $22.75

This is an interesting pricing structure, that makes a larger international order far more economical than 1 or 2 items.

I do apologize for having to pass these increases on to all of you, but I do not charge any markup for packaging, packing materials or handling: what you pay will be the cost of the package.

68046 Grommet

10/14/2015

I'm assuming that none of you want to pay $13 for a fuel hose grommet for your Super XL chainsaw (no joke, search for Homelite 68046 on Ebay and see it for yourself)!  I found a source for a quality aftermarket grommet that I can offer for sale at 1/3 that cost shipped!

Homelite Hose Kits

10/10/2015

It amazes me what some sellers are trying to charge for NOS fuel hoses on Ebay (My prices are based directly on my cost for hose, my time to research & cut and the number of inches contained in a set.)!  So I decided to put together kits for the most common Homelite saws.  I used lengths directly from the parts manuals (plus a little extra) and started getting full fuel & oil hose sets together.  I ran out of hose after finishing up all the variants of the Super 2 saws, but I'll do up another batch of kits for the bigger saws when my hose order comes in.  In the meantime if you need hoses for any of the Super 2 style saws or a 150 Automatic, check out what I've got listed!

Bearings

8/26/2015

The fun continues....my complete stock of bearings has migrated over from Ebay.   There's a good selection of crankshaft, rod, wrist pin & sprocket bearings for Homelite chainsaws, in addition to misc bearings for string trimmers, blowers & pumps.  Worn bearings cause premature crankshaft seal failure, so consider replacing the bearings at the same time you do the seals!

I've been plugging away since January, moving listings off of Ebay.  I started at over 4000 and as of this morning, it's down below 1000!  Great day!
